What's New on DCENR Spatial Pages 2009
GSI and EMD have jointly released access to their Exploration Company Report repositories via a MapViewer and a simple text entry screen. By specifying a Prospecting License Number or selecting a spatial extent, users can access submitted Exploration Reports for the chosen area. These reports, which also include borehole logs and geophysics interpretations, are viewable and downloadable without the need for software on your PC other than a web browser.

Online Services
Online Services are currently under construction, but very shortly we will have a Metadata search engine which will allow users to discover and search for Departmental data online, download or view these datasets as appropriate. So please check back to when this is available.
The following links are available for use with OCG compliant applications (click for details). These links will develop over time based on customer feedback, so if you have a suggestion or recommendation of what you would d like to see please mail.
See your application help on how to use the link below. If your using for instance ArcMap, add GIS Server using the Add WMS Server option and post the url below into the dialog.
WMS Example
http://spatial.dcenr.gov.ie/wmsconnector/com.esri.wms.Esrimap?ServiceName=GSI_Bedrock_Geology&
This example is for use in a WMS enabled application and contains 1:1,000,000 and 1:500,000 Geology of Ireland.
WMS Example without and Application, just use your browser to create the map image.
The following url (contained in the picture link) is editable and makes a dynamic request based on your parameters, click the link and it will open a browser window and present a map, if you then copy the url and edit the parameters ( in notepad or similar) you can request different extents, layers and format of output.

This example is from EMD and shows Mining Licences and Leases with supporting exploration datasets.
WFS Example
Copy the following url into a browser to retrieve the capabilities file. The capabilities file lists the contents of the WFS service, the extent of layers, and the projection system used. Please consult your application help to find further information on how to consume WFS services.
