Minister Dempsey Witnesses Formal Signing of ESBI Contract with Vietnamese Authorities

 

Vietnam, 1st December 2006

Noel Dempsey T.D., the Minister for Communications Marine and Natural Resources, today witnessed the signing of a new contract in Hanoi, Vietnam between ESB International (ESBI) and Petrovietnam (the State owned Vietnamese Oil and Gas Cooperation in Vietnam). This contact will see the ESBI advise the Vietnamese authorities on a new power plant in Ho Chi Minh City.

Minister Dempsey is in Hanoi to attend the ASEM ICT Ministers Meeting.

In attendance at the contract signing ceremony were Minister Noel Dempsey, Mr Liam Walsh, General Manager of ESBI, John Gunning of Terotech, Vice Minister of the Department of Industry in Vietnam Mr Bui Xuan Khu, Vice President of Petrovietnam Mr Vu Quang Nam and Mr Hoang Quoc Vuong, Chief of Staff at the Vietnamese Minsitery of Industry among others.

“I wish the ESBI every success in this new project with Petrovietnam. ESBI have been successfully operating in this country for over twenty years. This is an excellent example of how Irish expertise is valued internationally,” commented Minister Dempsey at the ceremony.
