Dempsey Appoints Six New Members to Digital Hub Development Agency Board

 

Dublin, 27 November 2006

Noel Dempsey T.D., the Minister for Communications, Marine & Natural Resources today announced that he has appointed six new members to the board of the Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA).

The Digital Hub is an Irish Government project with the objective of creating an international centre of excellence for knowledge, innovation and creativity focused around digital media enterprise. The Digital Hub Development Agency was established by the Digital Hub Development Agency Act 2003 to implement and administer the development of the Digital Hub.

Under the DHDA Act 2003, the DHDA Board members are appointed by the Minister, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, for a maximum of three years.

The Minister also designates one member as chairperson. The Board must also include the DHDA CEO, the Dublin City Council City Manager (or nominee), and a local community representative.

“The Digital Hub provides a high quality cluster environment for Irish and international new media companies, research and development and educational/community initiatives. To date it has succeeded in attracting over fifty digital media companies, employing more than 400 people. I am certain that the new board members I have appointed today will bring their experiences and expertise to bear and continue the success of the Digital Hub project,” said Minister Dempsey.
