Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources Mr Noel Dempsey T.D., met with the Board of An Post yesterday and with the Communications Workers Union today. Minister Dempsey urged the Board and management to work in partnership with the unions to resolve the current difficulties and to plan for the future of the company. The commercial challenges facing the company in the short to medium-term, particularly in the context of a fully liberalised European postal market in 2009, formed part of the broad-ranging discussions. The Minister said: “The meetings were very constructive and positive”.
