Steering Group

The Steering Group is a voluntary committee of technical experts, from a diverse variety of agencies, and stakeholders, under whose guidance the Irish Offshore SEA process will be carried out. Their inaugural meeting was held on 2 February 2006.

IOSEA Steering Group Charter

The Group will have three primary functions:

1. Advise on and oversee the course of the IOSEA programme for the oil and gas sector in its various phases:
a. Environmental Report preparation
b. Consultation – promotion & facilitation
c. Review - take Environmental Report & consultation into account
d. Provision of information - on decisions re licensing plan

2. Contribute expert input and knowledge, and facilitate provision of information on environmental and related topics

3. Continually improve the IOSEA methodology as this IOSEA programme evolves

4. Give advice to the competent authorities on the contribution of IOSEA to the broader subject of sustainable ocean management e.g. data collection/ provision.
