Ventilux

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

WEB-BASED ORDER PROCESSING SYSTEM TO INTEGRATE WITH COMPUTERISED MANUFACTURING SYSTEM

Business Case for eCommerce Infrastructure Project

Ventilux is the leading Irish manufacturer of emergency lighting. The company employs one hundred people at its Dublin plant. Half of its turnover is derived from exports to the UK and the Middle East. Ventilux realises that to grow further it must expand its exports, however the cost of establishing a sales presence in new markets such as the United States is prohibitive. Ventilux allocates a significant portion of its turnover to research and development and does not have available resources to set up overseas offices. Therefore, the company has decided to set up a sales channel on the Internet.

eBusiness Solution

Ventilux uses an American integrated computerised manufacturing system, Macola. Ventilux contracted Macola UK to develop a web-based order processing system to integrate with the existing software.

The eCommerce solution includes the following:

Who will benefit from this eCommerce Infrastructure Development?

Ventilux is a business to business (B2B) operation. It sells its products to wholesalers who then distribute to retail outlets and to major construction projects. Accordingly, the decision to purchase Ventilux products is often made by the architects on a major project, who then include the supply of Ventilux products as part of the tender specifications.

Key projects supplied by Ventilux include:
