PROJECT OBJECTIVE

DEVELOP A SYSTEM OF INTERNET BASED BILL PRESENTMENT

Business Case for eCommerce Infrastructure Project

Aspect Software is a supplier of Client File management applications to the finance industry, providing business and sector-specific applications for banks, building societies, life assurance and pensions companies. Client File Management includes electronic document capture, electronic document repositories and process management. Aspect uses standard industry-proven tools to deliver these applications. Historically, while these applications are integrated within an organisation, their value has been diminished by the inability of companies to ‘complete the loop’, thus including their clients in an integrated client file management system which includes electronic document distribution. This means that while business-critical processing can be conducted electronically within an organisation, client documents, such as bills, are printed and sent by post instead of being presented electronically.

eBusiness Solution

Aspect developed Touchpoint2 to enable the exchange of information between internal users (via intranets), business partners (via extranets) or external users (via the Internet). Touchpoint 2 works by extracting information and data, typically bills, invoices and statements from existing accounts, legacy and customer information systems in a variety of formats such as line data or print streams. It sits on existing systems without intervening in their systems or operations. The extracted information is then held on a database and collated for web or WAP presentation.

TouchPoint2:

1. Enables legacy systems, currently producing paper documents, to generate electronic renditions of this customer information and deliver it to the customer in a user-friendly and interactive format via the Internet or other electronic channel.

2. Handles information from a variety of different products and systems in different formats and delivers this to a range of channels (WAP, Internet, Extranet or current communications infrastructure).

3. Creates a faithful original of the paper document or an interactive web version for delivery via the Internet.

4. Can archive documents and bills for historical access.

5. Presents a full view or summary detail of the original document.

6. Summarises several customer documents into one consolidated view.

7. Allows organisations to establish an on-line relationship with its customer without major infrastructural re-investment thus extending the life of legacy systems.

8. Publishes to the customer either a summary of or a notification of the readiness of documents, bills, statements or other documents via e-mail or WAP.

9. Can isolate individual pieces of data contained on a bill to generate individually tailored marketing messages.

10. Enables customers to download bill / statement data for import to their own accounts systems or for analysis.

11. Allows customers to interact with the bill facilitating payment, bill querying, self-service.

Who will benefit from this eCommerce Infrastructure Development?

Banks, broker-lead businesses, utilities companies, telecommunications companies, insurance companies and their Customers.
