Thank you for the opportunity to make a submission. I believe that radio listeners in Ireland would benefit greatly from the availability of BBC Radio 4 on FM (as well as 198 LW). There is a lot of high quality material available from BBC Radio 4.

It should be stressed that such a development should not be regarded as a threat to Irish broadcasters such as RTE 1 or Lyric FM. BBC Radio 4, with the huge resources it has, offers material of interest to Irish listeners but which Irish broadcasters may find too expensive to supply. I listen to BBC Radio 4 a lot, but I still rely heavily on both RTE 1and Lyric FM for much of what I need.
