Renewable Energy Directive and National Renewable Energy Action Plan

Ireland's National Renewable Energy Action Plan

Article 4 of Directive 2009/28/EC on renewable energy requires each Member State to adopt a national renewable energy action plan (NREAP) to be submitted to the European Commission.

The plan is to set out the Member State’s national targets for the share of energy from renewable sources consumed in transport, electricity and heating and cooling in 2020, demonstrating how the Member State will meet their overall national target established under the Directive.

Ireland submitted its National Renewable Energy Action Plan to the European Commission in July 2010.
