Energy Efficiency

Functions of the Division

• The development and promotion of energy efficiency policies, in conjunction with Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) and the Renewable Energy Information Office (REIO), within the framework established by the Government's Green Paper on Sustainable Energy
• Implementation of the Sustainable Energy Priority of the Economic and Social Infrastructure Programme (ESIOP 2000 - 2006) within the framework of the National Development Plan (including operational programme, mid-term review, representation on monitoring committees, allocation of funding and monitoring of investment projects)
• Transposition of the EU Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive 2002/91/EC in conjunction with the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
• Delivery of energy efficiency mandates under the Green Paper on Sustainable Energy and the Commission of the European Communities Green Paper on Energy Efficiency or Doing More with Less. ( A copy of the Green Paper is available here  in MS Word format)
• Transpostion of the EU Directive on Energy End-Use Efficiency and Energy Services
• Input into the proposed Draft Directive on Energy Labelling of Water Heaters
• Managing the corporate governance of SEI and EirGrid
• Implementation agent for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programmes under the INTERREG  III A Programme
