Electric Vehicles

Minister Rabbitte launches Electric Vehicles grant scheme  All vehicles with CO2 emissions of less than 75g CO2 per km will be eligible for a purchase subsidy of up to €5,000. Qualifying vehicles sold after 1 January 2011 are eligible for the grant.

Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) have prepared information to advise Consumers on all of the technical and performance issues related to Electric Vehicles. A Cost-Benefit Online calculator tool has been prepared to allow Consumers to compare annual fuel and CO2 (direct+indirect) savings for both BEV and PHEV vehicles. Explanations of vehicle range and battery life is also provided. Details of the proposed EV Grant Scheme are also available for Vehicle Importers and Vehicle Dealers. The website may be viewed at:
