Statistical Reports

Ireland is obliged under EU legislation and IEA rules to provide statistical data relating to trade in crude oil and oil products. Data provided is based on statistical information provided on request to the Division by oil companies and oil consumer companies. Data is provided on oil purchases, oil sales to other oil companies, oil imports and oil exports. Statistics provided to the EU/IEA regarding the state of Ireland's oil stocks for the relevant categories of oil products are derived from aggregated data as supplied by industry and consumer companies.

Summary of Statistical Returns by the Oil Supply Division to EU Commission, the IEA , NORA & the Central Statistics Office (CSO) 

1. Reports to the IEA

  • Monthly return (MOS) on oil imports and exports, crude oil and product stocks and consumption levels.
  • Annual oil return on oil products, imports, exports, stocks and consumption levels.
  • Joint Oil Data Transparency Exercise (JODE) - a monthly report providing data for the previous two months on refinery output, imports, exports, stocks and consumption levels.
  • Monthly return on quantity and prices of imports of crude oil.

2. Reports to the EU

  • Weekly and monthly returns on average retail prices for petroleum products.
  • Monthly returns on (i) oil stocks (ii) crude oil supply costs and (iii) crude oil imports.

3. Reports to NORA

  • Monthly return to NORA ("The Levy Schedule") detailing the quantity of oil disposed of and the amount of Levy payable to NORA by oil companies and consumers. NORA then issues invoices to the companies concerned for the required payment.

4. Reports to Central Statistics Office

  • Monthly reports concerning average prices of gasoil and kerosene.
  • Quarterly reports on consumption of petrol and diesel.
