To date Bord Gáis has developed a major transmission and distribution network which provides almost 600,000 homes in Ireland and Northern Ireland with access to one of the most environmentally friendly and economical fossil fuels. Bord Gáis' extensive €1.5 billion development programme will ensure security of natural gas supply into the future and has doubled the Bord Gáis network bringing natural gas within reach of thousands of more homes and businesses in Ireland.

Currently homes and commercial enterprises in Meath, Cavan, Louth, Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Laois, Carlow, Limerick, Clare, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Monaghan, Waterford, Cork, Galway, Offaly and Westmeath are connected to the Natural Gas network. Bord Gáis continues to expand its network to all areas where it is economically viable to do so. During 2006 firmus energy connected over 800 customers in Northern Ireland.
