Corporate Governance of EirGric plc

EirGrid plc This link will open in a new window is Ireland’s independent Transmission System Operator and was established on 1st June 2006 when TSO and Market Operator functions were transferred from ESB National Grid.

EirGrid is responsible for the delivery of connections, transmission and market services to generators, suppliers and customers utilising the high voltage electricity system. It is also responsible for grid infrastructure development. EirGrid operates the wholesale electricity market in the current bilateral power market. EirGrid, in its role as Single Electricity Market Operator (SEMO), operates the all-island Single Electricity Market (SEM), which was established in 2007.
