Electricity Corporate Division

The Division's primary function is to ensure representation of the State as shareholder in EirGrid and ESB including, in particular, the corporate governance role and the facilitation of both companies' further growth and development in a liberalised electricity market.

Farm Electrification Grant Schemes for Disadvantaged Areas

This Scheme subsidises the installation of electricity supply to farms located in disadvantaged areas, which are without supply or where supply is inadequate to facilitate their development and modernisation.

The Scheme is run by the Department of Community, Equality & Gaeltacht Affairs. Electromagnetic Fields

  • Potential health effects of electromagnetic fields, including those emitted by mobile phones and masts, wireless broadband, and radio and television transmitters, comes under the responsibility of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

  • High Voltage Transmission Lines
    EirGrid and ESB are very aware of people's views and concerns on the issue of Electric and Magnetic Fields. They provide open and detailed information on this subject.

  • Further information on Non-ionising radiation can be found on the website of the The Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland (RPII).  The RPII is the national organisation with regulatory, monitoring and advisory responsibilities in matters pertaining to ionising radiation.
