Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organisation’s operations.
Internal Audit as part of the overall governance and control environment in the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources provides audit assurance that significant risks are identified managed and controlled effectively throughout the Department. Where such assurance cannot be given for any reason the Audit Committee and the Secretary General shall be informed.
Internal Audit also has specific audit responsibilities to the European Commission in relation to EU Structural Funds.
