Accounts & Procurement Unit
The Unit is responsible for general supplier and grant payments, travel and subsistence claims, as well as carrying out the accounts receivable and bookkeeping functions. The Unit prepares the annual appropriation account and discharges the Department's statutory obligations in respect of the Prompt Payment of Accounts legislation, Relevant Contract Tax, Professional Services Witholding Tax, VAT, Intrastat and Third-Party Returns.
The Unit has overall responsibility for the Department's Debt and Cash Management Policy and the maintenance of the Asset Register and serves as a resource for line Divisions by providing advice and guidance on best practice and developments in procurement particularly in relation to legislative compliance and adherence to Department of Public Expenditure and Reform guidelines and the promotion of the Value for Money imperative.

Finance & Strategic Planning Unit
The unit's role is to support the Department's line Divisions in achieving the sectoral objectives as set out in the Statement of Strategy 2011-2014, and to position the Department as a knowledge based results oriented organisation, operating to the highest public service values and standards of service delivery.
Its objective is to manage the finances of the Department on an ongoing basis in full compliance with financial procedures, and to support organisational effectiveness and evidence based policy making with robust business and financial planning, evaluation and foresight. It aims to ensure deployment and prioritisation of financial resources to best effect in delivering agreed outputs and value for money.
The unit is also responsible for the preparation of the Department's Annual Report and Statement of Strategy and maintenance of the department's risk register.

Corporate Governance & Central Coordination Unit
This unit coordinates the Department's response to a wide variety of requests for information which requires input from across a range of the different business units. It also provides Department representation at a range of interdepartmental groups covering issues such as Disability, State Aid, Better Regulation, EU and related issues. The unit liaises on an ongoing basis, with other Government Departments as required.
The unit is also responsible for oversight of matters related to the governance of the commercial and non-commercial state-sponsored bodies under the aegis of the Department. It provides an advisory and support role line Divisions and the Management Committee, as well as coordinating the Department's response to matters arising in this regard.
