Accounts
Accounts Unit is located in the Department's decentralised office in Cavan town. The Division is responsible for the provision of payment services for all Departmental accounts and for the production of the annual Appropriation Account. The Appropriation Account must be completed by 31st March of the following year, and is subject to audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General. http://www.audgen.gov.ie
There are 12 people employed in the Department's Accounts Unit. They deal with staff salaries, travel and subsistence claims, and general supplier and grant payments. In addition to payments, the Unit also prepares monthly and annual accounts and discharges the Department's statutory obligations in respect of the Prompt Payment of Accounts legislation, PAYE/PRSI, Relevant Contract Tax, Professional Services With-Holding Tax, VAT, Intrastat, and Third-Party Returns.
The Unit also has overall responsibility for the Department's debt and cash management policy and the maintenance of its Asset Register.
