Publication of Communications Regulation (Premium Rate Services) Bill 2009

The Communications Regulation (Premium Rate Services) Bill 2009 transfers the function of regulating premium rate services from the current Regulator, Regtel, to ComReg. The Bill was drafted following detailed consultation with the relevant regulatory authorities and with the industry. When enacted, the Bill will provide an effective and robust regulatory regime that will ensure the protection of the users of premium rate services and restore confidence in the regulation of the sector.

The Bill was approved by Government and was published on 8 July 2009.
