An Post, a commercial semi-state body set up in 1984, is the universal postal service provider. It also provides a range of counter services through its network of post offices, including payment of DSFA benefits and money transfers.


Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) -

ComReg is the National Regulatory Authority for the postal sector in Ireland.  Its statutory remit is to monitor, measure and regulate the postal sector.  This includes the monitoring and measurement of quality of service standards, to ensure that An Post abides by its statutory universal service obligations.


Universal Postal Union (UPU) -

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) is a specialised agency of the United Nations since 1948, and is the body governing international postal services. It has approximately 190 members. Ireland became a member in 1923.
