Ministerial Consent for new public service broadcast channels and services

Section 103 of the Broadcasting Act 2009 provides the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources with responsibility to consider requests by RTÉ or TG4 for new channels and services and to make a determination on whether to consent to these channels. This section also sets out the procedure to be followed by the Minister in considering whether to consent to any proposed new services or channels and sets out the criteria for measuring the public value of these services or channels.
